4040 Aluminum Extrusion Workbench, 8 ft with Shelf

The 8 ft shop workbench we built and use at Assista CNC: a 4040 aluminum extrusion frame on locking leveling casters, a 1.5 in. birch plywood top and a full-length melamine shelf on the back legs. We have stood on ours. Size: the top is 96 x 48 in. (2438 x 1219 mm), two 3/4 in. 4x8 plywood sheets glued and screwed, left uncut. The worktop is 39 in. (992 mm) from the floor. Ours sits at 41 in., which is a little tall for most people, so the model is 2 in. lower. The shelf is a 97 in. Home Depot melamine board, also uncut. How it goes together: every corner is an end-tap screw plus a die-cast inside corner bracket. The front rail is two pieces joined with straight connector strips, the two front corners get silver triangle plates, and black shelf brackets work as knee braces. The corners stand on post bases with ratchet leveling casters, and the middle legs take M8 stem casters. Two versions: the table as we built it, and one with an extra front middle leg and caster. Ours has no front middle leg and holds fine, but the top droops very slightly in the middle, so add it if you want a stiffer front. The README has the cut list (about 14.8 m of 4040) and every bought part with its Amazon ASIN.
